Managing health and safety
Health and safety is promoted through constant training and our training matrix.
All managers are IOSH certified and qualified to run sites and carry out Toolbox talks. We have an independent health and safety advisor who we book courses with and use to promote health and safety within the company. Our training matrix highlights when engineers are due health and safety training and keeps our engineers and managers up to date with training. We also work closely with manufacturers who inform us of new courses required to install systems. Toolbox talks, site visits SSSTS approved engineers and SMSTS courses for site managers are utilised and we invest from management to administration.
All our engineers have a CSCS card, and we actively upskill our engineers through the CSCS card types programme.
How Enertech identify risks during mobilisation, transition and normal business
During the mobilisation and transition period we will carry out an asset verification and risk register for every building. The information we gather during this period will then be embedded into the RAMS to ensure we minimise any risks prior to starting any works.
During the transition and every day of the contract following the mobilisation our engineers must report any near misses through the iPad and to their line manager. In the weekly engineers meeting all near misses are discussed and an action plan is put in place to ensure the risk is fully mitigated.
How Enertech carry out risk assessments
Risk assessments that identify, evaluate and control employee and customer exposure to safety hazards
We have COSHH reports included in all our health and safety site files. Our engineers utilise their PDA to perform dynamic risk assessments. No job can be started until the RAMS are complete.
All management are IOSH or equivalent approved and carry out site audits on a regular basis. Sites are surveyed by management to highlight risks and make the working environment as safe as possible.
How Enertech ensures health and safety practices are followed by our supply chain
We look for companies and supply chains who have approved health and safety certificates. We audit these companies using our external health and safety management team and also our in house IOSH and SMSTS approved contracts managers and site managers. We audit RAMS, and health and safety files should we need to use a sub-contractor.
Auditing jobs and health and safety visits are documented and attached to the job. If we feel a company is not working safely then we stop the works and carry out Toolbox talks sharing our knowledge and experience.
