Enertech FM are proud to support Jake – who is running The Wall, the UK's biggest ultramarathon for Children with Cancer UK
A Bit About Jake
I’m Jake from South Shields, and I’ve been with Enertech for over a year. On June 13th, I’ll be taking on The Wall by Rat Race — a 70-mile ultramarathon that starts at Carlisle Castle at 6:30am, crosses the country, and finishes on the Gateshead Quayside. My goal is to complete the challenge in under 24 hours.
I’m fundraising in support of Children with Cancer UK, Rat Race’s chosen charity, and any support would be hugely appreciated. I decided to take on this challenge after stepping away from rugby following my time playing for Blaydon RFC in National 2. I wanted a new challenge to push myself both physically and mentally — and this certainly fits the bill.
I joined Enertech in early 2025, and the support I’ve received both professionally and personally has been fantastic. I started in Purchasing and have since been given several opportunities to grow and develop, leading to my current role as Procurement Manager. Working closely with the
Enertech management team and learning a more strategic approach to procurement from Glynn Turner at 8 Group, who has taken me under his wing, has been a huge part of that journey.
About the Ultramarathon

About the Charity
The charity which is run supports is Children with Cancer UK - Children with Cancer UK actively raise and invest money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their family together.
Their vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer. For 35 years, Children with Cancer UK has funded much needed research into the causes of childhood cancers, and the development of better, kinder treatments as well as funding initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment and beyond. Their work has contributed significantly to a marked increase in childhood cancer survival rates and improved quality of life for patients.
