A. Air conditioning is critical to any indoor space because it makes a comfortable environment for people such as employees and customers. This is linked to higher productivity and efficiency rates whilst also providing a relaxed environment. Air conditioning also removes harmful bacteria and allergens such as pollen from the air.
Q. How do air conditioners work?
A. In basic terms, an air conditioner works by turning special chemicals into gas and pumping it through a set of metal refrigerant coils. As the chemicals turn into gas, they absorb huge amounts of heat from the air and make the refrigerant coils extremely cold. At the same time, a supply of fresh air from outside of the building is sucked through a filter and then fanned through the cold coils and then into the building. Once the gas has completed a circuit of the coils it is compressed into liquid before the whole process starts again. This keeps the coils in a constantly cooled state.
Q. In what locations do you provide commercial air conditioning services?
A. We provide our commercial air conditioning services including installation, maintenance and repair, throughout the UK’s North West region including Newcastle, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Durham, Harrogate & York.
Q. Can air conditioners cause dry eyes and colds?
A. A properly fitted air conditioner with the correct cooling capacity appropriate to the space it is serving should not cause dry eyes. If you require new fit air conditioning then our experienced professional air conditioning operatives will calculate the exact required cooling capacity so that you are not fitted with a system that provides too much cold air.
Q. When do air conditioning filters need changing?
A. Filter replacement times can vary greatly from site-to-site and are dependant on factors such as the size of building, usage and size of system. A mid-sized office block would need a replacement every 3-4 months whereas a construction focused workplace will need regular fortnightly replacement.
Q. What is involved in air conditioning installation?
A. Whether you require full building, single-room or multi-room air conditioning, we will conduct a thorough site survey and determine the areas of most concentrated traffic (ie the busy areas you would like to see more ventilated). We will then determine the best course of action in terms of unit and vent placement. Following this, we will present you with a proposal including project lead times, technical details and an inclusive quote. On agreement, we will then commence the installation.
Q. How much does air conditioning maintenance cost?
A. At Enertech FM we provide air conditioning maintenance as either a stand-alone service or part of an extensive integrated maintenance package which can be custom built to your specification. The air conditioning maintenance service can vary in price depending on how extensive you want the service to be and how frequently you need it. To get a quick quote send us an enquiry or contact us on 0191 432 4814.
Q. What size commercial air conditioner do I need?
A. Again, the type of HVAC system you require will be determined by the characteristics of your building. We will use a manual J calculation to determine your building’s “cooling load”. Factors that will play into this include:
- Building heat retention rate
- Insulation capability
- Areas directly exposed to sunlight
- How many people in the area
- Height of ceiling
Q. What types of HVAC system do you install?
A. At Enertech FM we install most common forms of HVAC system including but not limited to:
- Single Zone HVACs
- Multi-Zone HVACs
- Ductless Systems
- Hybrid Systems
